Program 2026

Franz Lehár – Gold und Silber (Waltz)

A sparkling Viennese waltz full of elegance and charm. Gold und Silber unfolds with sweeping lyrical melodies contrasted by lively, radiant passages that create a festive atmosphere. Lehár’s refined sense of orchestral color and graceful dance rhythm make this piece both sophisticated and immediately appealing to audiences.

Sergei Rachmaninoff – Italian Polka

Originally written for piano four hands, this delightful miniature shows Rachmaninoff’s playful and humorous side. Built on a lively folk-like theme, the piece sparkles with rhythmic vitality, witty accents, and brilliant contrasts.

Despite its virtuosic flair, the Italian Polka maintains a lighthearted spirit throughout, charming the audience with its buoyant energy and joyful character. It is a perfect example of how elegance and humor can coexist in a compact and entertaining concert piece.

Ennio Morricone – Cinema Paradiso (Love Theme)

Composed in 1988 for the film Cinema Paradiso, this deeply nostalgic Love Theme has become one of Morricone’s most beloved melodies. Warm, flowing lines and a simple yet profoundly expressive harmonic language create an atmosphere of tenderness, longing, and timeless beauty.

Part of the theme was developed in collaboration with his son, Andrea Morricone, adding an intimate generational dimension to the music. Following the film’s international success — including the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1990 — the Love Theme gained worldwide recognition and remains one of Morricone’s most frequently performed concert pieces.

We arrange the music scores especially for the registered instruments, depending on your own level and difficulty. All sheet music parts and sheet music materials will be prepared after the registration deadline and sent by email by the end of June.

The Festival

Music Without Borders is a unique summer festival that brings musicians together in an inspiring and relaxed atmosphere on the beautiful Black Sea coast in Sozopol. The project is built on the idea that music should have no boundaries — whether it is a passion, a form of relaxation, a lifelong hobby, or a professional path.

The festival is structured in two main phases: masterclasses and an ensemble course. During the masterclasses, participants work intensively on their repertoire, technique, and musical expression with experienced musicians and teachers.

The ensemble course offers something truly special: it creates a space where professional and non-professional musicians can meet, exchange ideas, rehearse, and perform together. This collaboration allows participants to experience music-making in a vibrant, supportive environment where learning happens naturally through shared artistic work.

All musical activities are scheduled mainly in the first half of the day, allowing participants to fully enjoy the unique surroundings of Sozopol. Afternoons and evenings remain open for relaxation, swimming in the sea, informal music-making, shared activities, or simply quiet personal time. In this way, musical inspiration blends naturally with the atmosphere of a summer retreat by the sea.

The festival culminates in a special open-air concert in the Old Town of Sozopol, where participants and teachers come together on stage to celebrate the music they have created during the course.

True to its name, Music Without Borders celebrates the idea that music connects people beyond levels, professions, and backgrounds — creating a community where everyone can share the joy of making music together.

Sozopol, BULGARIA

Sozopol is located on the southern Bulgarian Black Sea coast, 35 kilometers south of Burgas. The town stretches between the foothills of the Strandzha Mountains to the south and the Bay of Burgas to the north. Sozopol is divided into an old town and a new town. The old town is situated on the small Skamnij Peninsula, which is 200 meters wide, nearly two kilometers long, and lies ten meters above sea level. To the west of this peninsula is Sozopol Bay, while to the east lies Korenjata Bay.

The eight-hectare island of Sveti Kirik was connected to the Skamnij Peninsula until the turn of the era. It is located 250 meters northwest of the old town and has been linked to the mainland by an artificial causeway since 1927, technically making it a peninsula. The causeway connects the northeast of the island to the old town. Since the Sveti Kirik Peninsula was extended southwestward by a 400-meter-long breakwater, an artificial bay measuring 800 × 200 meters was created to the west of the old town. The bay facing the mainland is home to the fishing and yacht harbor.

Since the early 1960s, Sozopol has expanded southward due to the growth of tourism. The new town of Sozopol and the most recent district, Charmanite, cover the coast of Korenjata Bay and the Budzhaka Peninsula. The latter is also popularly known as Germankata (“The German Woman”) after a German woman who had an accident there in 1959.

The old and new towns are connected by a land bridge, which was home to the city cemetery during the Middle Ages. This area has since been transformed into a park known as the Sea Garden. The Budzhaka Peninsula and Kavatsite Bay form the southern boundary of the city.

In Sozopol Bay, 1.2 kilometers north of the old town, lie the islands of Sveti Ivan and Sveti Petar. These two islands provide natural protection for the Sozopol anchorage against strong winds, a feature that was particularly valued by sailors in ancient times.
